Meet the Optometrist

Dr. Anna Farouq attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she received a B.A. in Biology and English in 1998.  She then went onto receive her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2005 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.  While there, she had externships that focused on ocular disease, one of which was with the National Indian Health Service in Shiprock, New Mexico.  

Before opening SharpVue EyeCare, she was an associate at St.Clair Eye Care for almost nine years in Lynchburg, and then worked at Bedford Family Eye Care for two years.  Dr. Farouq is certified through the National Board of Examiners in optometry and is licensed as a therapeutic optometrist through the Virginia Board of Optometry.  She is a member of the American Optometric Association and Virginia Optometric Association.  

Along with routine eye care, Dr. Farouq provides treatment and management of many ocular conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, dry eye syndrome, and keratoconus.  She has a special interest in complex contact lens fits including rigid gas permeable lenses and scleral lenses. 

Outside of work, she enjoys hiking the Blue Ridge mountains and spending time with her two young children and husband.
